FIATA World Congress 2005 in Moscow
This year’s FIATA World Congress was organized by the Freight Forwarders Association of the Russian Federation, and was held from 12-15 September 2005 at the World Trade Center in Moscow.
The interesting congress program attracted around 1’000 freight forwarders and accompanying persons from 75 countries to attend the congress and the concurrently running exhibition.
Key topics discussed at the meetings of the specialized Institutes, Advisory Bodies and Regional Groups were inter alias the question of a remuneration for freight forwarders for collecting surcharges for the airlines, the implementation of model contract agreements between railway companies and its customers, the elimination of service contract discrimination for NVOCC’s under the US Ocean Shipping Reform Act, the successful validation of training programs from six National Associations, and last but not least the announcement of the winner of the International Young Freight Forwarders Award 2005.
The FIATA Foundation Vocational Training was happy to receive donations amounting to almost USD 40’000 resulting from the sale of FIATA Immediate Past President Issa Baluch’s newly launched book “Transport Logistics: Past, Present and Predictions
